LEARN MORE ABOUT THE HOUSE
"Challenges were present at every step and phase of construction."
The house project is signed by the owner, who is also the owner of the construction office Graditelj d.o.o, Kastav, Dalibor Ćiković. The interior design is credited to his wife, who is also an interior designer and the owner of the company Zoe Interiors. We executed the house in our own arrangement, from the construction of concrete foundations, the erection of the structure with laminated beams to the final finishing works. Throughout the process, the owner’s father, an experienced civil engineer with over 40 years of experience, greatly assisted us.
"The decoration process went very smoothly."
The predominant materials in the house are mostly natural, with colors such as gray, white, black, brick color, green, in combination with wood, giving the interior a special charm. We paid special attention to lighting, with some rooms having very subtle lighting, while in others, it is more pronounced. Since the house has large glass windows, i.e., the front facade is completely glazed, we ensured it forms a unity with nature and the surroundings. Plenty of light, wooden paneling, and a beautiful view make it irreplaceable. Also, all details were chosen with special care because they make a difference in the overall design. The furniture is mostly custom-made due to the specificity of the space. The ground floor has large-sized tiles placed due to underfloor heating installed throughout the ground floor. The pellet stove in the living room adds extra warmth and a genuine atmosphere, especially when the snow is fluttering outside.
Regarding the technical characteristics of the house, it is energy-efficient with very low energy consumption. The house is heated through a floor heating system that uses electricity as an energy source. The heating system is fully automated in each room separately, using sensors to adjust the heating temperature for complete comfort.
In addition to heating, the house has automated outdoor lighting. Entry to the house is via an electronic lock, and the entire building surroundings are under video surveillance.
"We mostly bought furniture online, some furniture we made ourselves, and restored, especially highlighting the wooden logs that serve as various tables/nightstands/benches that we made from spruce trees we cut down to access the terrain where our house is now."
The decorating process went very smoothly because we had an interior design project in advance with all items specified in it, as well as all the furniture that we purchased in advance even though the house had not yet been built, and we already had a vision of how everything would look.
